The Pulse Originals were proudly invited to take part in the Global Top Round (GTR) conference as part of Melbourne International Games Week. Global Top Round is an accelerator program for the world’s most promising game developers. We were selected as one of seventeen finalists from around the world to pitch our game Sky Kraken in a bid to win a spot in the top ten.
After an intense 2 days of keynotes, pitches, and demos, our game and studio successfully received a spot in the top ten – and accelerator funding! This comes with ongoing support from the GTR team on all milestones of game development including publishing, and an expanded network. As one of two Australian studios selected, naturally our team is stoked about this development!
GTR is an interactive accelerator program dedicated to supporting small studios from around the world with development, publishing, and fundraising expertise, helping games go from local to global. They focus on creating sustainable businesses and have been doing so for the last two years. GTR’s Peter Van Dyke praised the finalists who went through a rigorous three-step selection process to shortlist games that were good investment candidates. “We considered their current prototype with a focus on detail and vision, evaluated their progress, plans, and of course their team.”
“In addition to our initial investment and the potential for follow-on investment, we work directly with the winning studios, sharing our expertise and the knowledge of our network of mentors and partner publishers. We’re here to support studio projects in the short term and the larger studio vision for success and growth in the long term,” says Peter.
The seed funding we have received will help Sky Kraken on the way to becoming publish-ready. The next step of their program is to provide marketing support, eventually leading to further studio investment. We are certain our selection as finalists will open many doors for our game and studio.
